Cultural heritage building in Brussels

On 27 May, our partner CEMOSA will present INHERIT at the European Construction and Sustainable Built Environment Technology Platform (ECTP) Conference in Brussels.

The session, titled “Application of Digital ‘Cutting-Edge’ Solutions to Real Use Cases”, will showcase the Digital Twin developed within the INHERIT project for the intelligent management of heritage buildings. The solution integrates indoor air quality monitoring, energy performance analysis, pathology assessment, and accessibility management.

The system combines BIM models, real-time sensor data, and calibrated energy models, along with simulation capabilities, performance indicators, and tools for damage recording and monitoring. It also includes features for condensation risk assessment and for analysing accessibility barriers and routes.

By integrating these functionalities into a single platform, the tool addresses the complex and interrelated challenges of heritage building management, including energy efficiency, environmental quality, conservation, and accessibility. In highly protected contexts, where regulatory frameworks are strict and interventions must remain minimally invasive, the Digital Twin supports more efficient, informed, and sustainable decision-making without compromising the historical value of the assets.

The conference will take place on 26–27 May 2026 at the Thon Hotel Bristol Stephanie in Brussels, Belgium. This year’s edition is entitled “Building Europe’s Competitiveness in the Built Environment: from Strategic Vision to Industrial Impact”.

The programme offers an overview of the main sessions, topics, and speakers, reflecting three key priorities of the event:

  • Advancing a resilient, decarbonised, adaptive, and regenerative built environment
  • Creating an inclusive, health-enhancing, and enriching built environment
  • Strengthening a competitive, digitalised, and circular value chain

The event will bring together key stakeholders from across the construction and built environment sectors to discuss future research and innovation priorities, share updated Position Papers from the ECTP Committees, and launch discussions on the revision of the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA).
