To support the adoption of next-generation solutions for cultural heritage buildings, the INHERIT project introduces a comprehensive capacity-building programme.
As INHERIT seeks to introduce ‘next-generation solutions’ into the realm of preservation, restoration, and management of cultural heritage buildings, it also brings the need to upgrade the skills and knowledge of next-generation managers, heritage custodians, and stakeholders.
To ensure alignment between emerging solutions and professional capacities, project partner ICLEI developed a report titled D6.1 – Capacity Building Programme for Cultural Heritage. The report identifies key gaps in the implementation and integration of innovative technologies in both practice and policy. With a strong focus on making the best use of available resources, including human, technological, financial, and administrative assets, the capacity-building programme is designed to address these challenges while enabling learning and skill-development opportunities.
Capacity building is essential to empower for practitioners, experts, and local players working in the field of heritage conservation with the knowledge and competencies required to sustain, scale up, and replicate innovative practices, while also ensuring long-term ownership of the outcomes.
The programme is structured around three main activities:
- A peer-learning scheme, creating a shared space for the exchange of knowledge and experiences, fostering mutual support, and accelerating the transfer of good practices across regions and disciplines;
- E-learning modules, where knowledge generated within INHERIT is capitalised and disseminated, providing an accessible entry point to project results for potential replicators;
- Periodic journals, or reflective reports, designed for the INHERIT pilot partners to document and share their progress, challenges, and insights.
Deliverable D6.1 presents all three activities for the Capacity Building Programme for Cultural Heritage, empowering stakeholders in the cultural heritage field with essential tools for enabling long-term learning, collecting and organising the knowledge generated and sharing experiences.
