ELLINIKI ETAIRIA (ELLET)
Greek pilot leader (Pilot 3)
ELLINIKI ETAIRIA (Society for the Environment and Cultural Heritage – ELLET) is a Greek NGO that has been fighting to preserve the country’s natural environment and cultural heritage since 1972. It is the Greek representative of Europa Nostra, a pan-European Federation for Cultural Heritage, representing citizens’ organisations that work on safeguarding Europe’s cultural and natural heritage. ELLET is also active in environmental education, and in protecting the seas and the forests and in planning for sustainable tourism, carrying capacity and environmental tax reform. Some of ELLET’s recent leading projects are the EU funded LIFE IP programme for the climate change, the “Greek Paths of Culture” programme and the SOS programme responding to the community’s requests for issues regarding natural environment and cultural heritage.
Role in the project
ELLET will be responsible for Pilot 3: the building of ELLET in Tripodon street, located in the historic centre of Athens. The programme aims to optimise the overall energy performance of the building with respect to its architectural and cultural identity, which is inextricably linked with that of the street’s historical significance and location. Different renovation plans, consistent with the aesthetics of the building, will be evaluated. Through the smartification of the building (incl. installation of smart meters and sensors), building performance will be improved.
Other partners of the project
INHERIT’s consortium gathers 18 partners from 13 European countries, involved in the project at various levels, covering the social, technological, and scientific layer, as well as the communication, dissemination and exploitation activities.
