Monastery ‘Ntra. Sra. del Prado’

Valladolid, Spain

History and Features

The monastery is located near the Pisuerga River and next to the Parliament in Valladolid. The building was declared a national, historical and artistic monument in 1877. In the 1980s a complete restoration was carried out, converting the old monastery into the offices of the Castilla y Leon Regional Government. The building is currently the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sports and the Ministry of Education.

Solutions

INHERIT will optimise the overall energy performance with a focus on cost-effectiveness, in keeping with the historical renovation of heritage buildings. This will be supported by interactive screen use and AR-VR interfaces and a digital twin. The project will also develop H-BIM supported digital techniques, based on a built-heritage technical inspection in line with European regulations and directives to allow subsequent interventions. Cost-effective and less disruptive modernisation and preservation of the heritage-built environment will be ensured.
